For all the pronouncements about how the GOP is "the party of small government" and even liberals who claim that "there is a legitimate debate about the size and scope of the Federal Goverent", where the rubber hits the road--actual campaigns, actual voters, and actual politicians--it's really obvious that those are not the terms of the American debate.
If they were, campaign genius Karl Rove would not generate things like this in the WSJ:
