When closer to reality is still not very close

Jonathan Chait looks at the efforts by GOP leadership to talk the Caucus off the ledge and finds that the proposed alternative is still a ledge, just a couple floors closer to the ground. A good sign that this new ledge is still pretty high: it's occupied by well known party suicide advocate Grover Norquist.
